Former Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester was officially announced as a member of the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.

It was rough for many of the Cubs fans to hear as he is certainly one of the most beloved members of the team in recent memory.

Even Cubs manager David Ross reacted to the news that Lester was no longer a Cub and just wanted to say thank you for everything.

"We all know what kind of player this man is but what you don't get to see is how big his heart is," he posted on Instagram. "Just wanted to post something to let everyone know how thankful I am for this man. Thanks Jon for all you did for my career, my family, and mostly thanks for your friendship. You and your family have been there for me in some of the best and toughest times in my life.

Ross got to experience many wonderful things in baseball with Lester as a teammate.

"The places you took me on and off the field were literally nothing short of amazing. Big markets, big games, parades, golf trips, plane rides, and especially the two rings. Not sure I have the words except, I love you and will miss you Left-hander!"

What a great thank you by Rossy to one of his best friends.
