Purdue QB reportedly has private visit set up for Bears

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Bears have their franchise quarterback Justin Fields so there isn't much need for a new QB1.

However, teams are always looking for talented depth at the position because one injury can change a season at the quarterback position.

The Bears have a new backup quarterback in PJ Walker, but there could be more talent behind him coming soon.

Purdue quarterback Aidan O'Connell is making the rounds in the NFL as he looks to take his game to the next level.

According to multiple reports, O'Connel has private visits and workouts set up with several teams, including the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears.

In 2022, O'Connell threw for 3,490 yards with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a QBR of 71.9.

The private workouts and visits with NFL teams are crucial for O'Connell's draft stock, as they give him a chance to show off his skills in front of coaches and scouts. These workouts can be grueling, as they test a player's physical and mental abilities, but they are also a chance to impress decision-makers and potentially move up in the draft.

Not sure if O'Connell is a perfect fit for the Bears' offense in 2023, but it is a good idea for the team to do their due diligence on any interesting prospect that is coming into the league.

It's possible that the Bears use a fourth or fifth-round pick on a quarterback this draft, even though I think there are more pressing needs elsewhere.
