I normally don't comment but I felt the need to point out something here.
Cub fans need to get over their love affair with "the core" players from 2016. Just like the 1985 Bears, this team was filled with one time overachievers who never could replicate a one year phenomenon.
They have had four years to prove 2016 wasn't a fluke and they did nothing. I've been a Cubs, and Bears, fan for over 60 years and right now I'm over both teams until they prove they are serious about fielding a competitive, and championship team.
Chicago fans have supported their teams forever based on mediocrity as a benchmark. If you actually want to see better teams then we need to stop watching, listening, and going to games. The only thing owners understand is when you hit them in their wallets. (See Chicago Blackhawks Rocky Wirtz)
There is nobody on this current Cubs roster that is untouchable. Time to back up the truck and fix this mess once and for all.
