Ben Zobrist out with injury

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs second baseman Ben Zobrist is out of the lineup his three straight game of the because of an injury. According to multiple reports, he is dealing with back soreness and is currently day-to-day with the injury. It is an injury that needs to be taken seriously so it doesn't become a lingering problem all year long for the veteran 35-year old.

In 2017 through 14 games, Zobrist is batting .188 with two homers, five RBI, and .328 on-base percentage. For his career, he is .265 hitter with 147 home runs, 648 RBI, and .358 on-base percentage.

With any back issue, the most important thing is to rest it and not make it worse. The only good news is that the Cubs have tremendous depth at the outfield position so look for Albert Almora Jr to get more playing time during Zobrist's injury.

Almora has played well in 2017 with a .333 batting average, a homer, seven RBI, and .400 on-base percentage.
