The Texas Rangers announced on Monday that standout outfielder Joey Gallo has tested positive for COVID-19.
He is currently asymptomatic and at home quarantining.
Gallo has yet to make an appearance at Rangers camp which is not ideal as he has not been able to get any work in to prepare for the 2020 season.
He batted .252 with 22 homers and 49 RBIs last season.
Per #Rangers GM Jon Daniels, Joey Gallo has tested positive for COVID-19. His saliva test on June 29 came back positive, but a nasal swab came back negative. Another saliva test taken on July 2 came back positive yesterday. He’s asymptomatic & feels great. He’s isolating at home.— Chris Halicke (@ChrisHalicke) July 6, 2020
