WATCH: Highlights from Cubs' walkoff victory versus Tribe

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — The Cleveland Indians (26-22) are notorious for blowing a 3-1 lead to the Chicago Cubs (29-20) in the 2016 World Series. Once again, the Tribe blew a 3-1 lead — albeit of a much lesser magnitude — when battling the North Siders on Tuesday. In the opener of a two-game series at Wrigley Field, the Cubs overcame a 3-1 deficit and won 6-5 in walkoff fashion.

Back-to-back hit by pitches in the bottom of the ninth culminated in Kris Bryant scoring the winning run for Chicago. Cameron Maybin was beaned with the bases juiced, thereby forcing Bryant home. Anthony Rizzo led the Cubs at the plate via a 3-for-4 showing, and Javier Baez hit a lengthy solo shot and went from first to home on a steal attempt as part of his impactful performance in the Cubs' lineup.
