by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — A combination of two clutch two-out singles and a solo home run culminated in Willson Contreras racking up four RBIs on Friday night. Contreras, who served as the designated hitter for the Chicago Cubs (23-15), pushed across every run that the North Siders scored against the rival St. Louis Cardinals (14-15).

Cubs ace Yu Darvish dominated on the mound in the series opener, fanning 11 as part of an impressive seven-inning outing. The Cardinals' lone run came on a solo dinger by Matt Carpenter, and, in the end, the Cubs earned a 4-1 victory at Wrigley Field.
