CHICAGO – Prior to today’s series finale vs. Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox placed left-handed pitcher Gio González on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to August 27) with a right groin strain and recalled right-hander Dane Dunning from the Schaumburg training facility. Dunning is scheduled to start this afternoon’s game.

Dunning, 25, received a no decision in his major-league debut on August 19 vs. Detroit after allowing three runs on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in 4.1 IP. He entered the season rated by MLB.com as the No. 6 prospect in the White Sox organization.

González, 34, has not pitched since August 22 at the Cubs when he threw 3.2 scoreless IP in relief and earned his first win with the White Sox. He is 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA (14 ER/24.2 IP) and 26 strikeouts in six games (four starts) this season, his first with the White Sox.
