Cubs avoid arbitration, sign Kris Bryant to one-year deal

by - Senior Editor -

Something has finally happened during the Cubs offseason that is newsworthy.

The Chicago Cubs have signed third baseman Kris Bryant to a one-year deal for $18.6 million to avoid arbitration for 2020 according to multiple reports.

MLBTR had a projection of $18.5 million for Bryant, so this is matched up very closely with what he could have gotten if they would have gone through arbitration.

In 2019, he had a salary of $12.9 million.

The 28-year old hit .283 with 31 homers, 108 runs, .903 OPS, and 77 RBIs in 147 games last season.

Other Cubs arbitration-eligible players include stars Javy Baez and Willson Contreras and others.

Update: Albert Almora Jr. was signed for $1.575 million for 2020.

Update 2: Kyle Ryan has signed for $975K for 2020.
