Braxton Jones injury update

Tough news for the Bears offensive line.

Left tackle Braxton Jones suffered a lower leg injury during Sunday’s 34-17 loss to the Detroit Lions and had to be carted off the field.

The injury appeared serious, with many of his teammates coming onto the field to show their support as he was driven to the locker room for treatment.

Now, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has provided an update on Jones' condition.

“[Jones is] believed to have suffered a fractured ankle,” Rapoport posted on social media. “He’s still undergoing tests, but as of now, it’s just the fibula, not the tibia, as well.”

There is a silver lining, though, as Rapaport said Jones should be recovered by the time the team begins preparations for next season.

"Jones faces a four-month recovery, back long before training camp," he posted.
