Bears make several roster moves |
The Chicago Bears on Thursday announced that the club has activated defensive back Jaylon Johnson and defensive back Kyler Gordon from Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return. In corresponding moves, the Bears have placed offensive lineman Luke Newman on Reserve/Injured and waived running back Brittain Brown.
Chicago has also elevated linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin and offensive lineman Jordan McFadden from the practice squad for Friday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Per NFL regulation, all standard elevations revert back to the practice squad following the game. Reeves-Maybin is in his ninth NFL season in 2025, spending seven of his first eight professional seasons with the Detroit Lions (2017-21, '23-24). Reeves-Maybin, who joined the Bears prior to Week 12, has appeared in 114 career regular-season games (14 starts), as well as four postseason outings, for the Lions and Houston Texans (2022) since entering the league as a fourth-round selection (124th overall) by Detroit in 2017. Reeves-Maybin has amassed 160 tackles (109 solo), including nine tackles for loss, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries defensively, adding 61 career special teams tackles. In 2023, Reeves-Maybin earned AP Second-Team All-Pro status and Pro Bowl recognition for his performance on special teams. A native of Clarksville, Tenn., Reeves-Maybin appeared in 41 career collegiate games at Tennessee (2013-16), amassing 240 tackles (149 solo), including 27 tackles for loss, earning Second-Team All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2015. McFadden has spent the entirety of the regular season on Chicago's practice squad, logging his first game action as a member of the Bears in Chicago's Week 12 win over Pittsburgh. Initially joining the Bears after being claimed via waivers in the offseason prior to the 2025 season, McFadden arrived in Chicago after spending the previous two seasons as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers (2023-24), appearing in 13 career games for Los Angeles, including two starts at left guard. A native of Spartanburg, S.C., McFadden played five seasons at Clemson (2018-22), appearing in 56 career games for the Tigers. McFadden logged 2,960 career snaps from scrimmage over his career at Clemson, the third-most by any offensive tackle, and the seventh-most by any player, regardless of position, in program history. A two-time All-ACC honoree, McFadden started each of his final 39 games played for the Tigers.
