CHICAGO – On Thursday, June 12, the Chicago Cubs will celebrate Pride Month with a celebration that will take over the Wrigley Field campus with can’t-miss food and entertainment in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Headlining the festivities, the Cubs will welcome LGBTQ+ owned and friendly businesses at Gallagher Way and hold a special pregame recognition for Center on Halsted before the Cubs take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at 7:05 p.m. CT. Fans might also notice Progress Pride flags flying around the Wrigley Field Marquee, which have been in place since the start of June.
“We’ve seen firsthand how baseball brings people together, which is why our annual Pride Celebration has become a fixture at the Friendly Confines each June,” said Cubs Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jen Martindale. “The Cubs have a longstanding history of championing the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re excited to continue that legacy while delivering an unforgettable experience for all fans. We hope to see you there!” In addition to offering an eclectic mix of art, apparel and delicious food and drinks from LGBTQ+ owned and friendly businesses, the Pride Celebration will include a live DJ set performed by DJ Lee Michaels as well as a photobooth and a face painting “glam station” for fans to enjoy before the game. Businesses participating in the Pride Celebration include: Vichcraft: An independent art studio that crafts purpose-led pieces made by hand. Jennivee’s Bakery: A local bakery that offers a multitude of sweet treats and beverages inspired by Filipino flavors. SOUNDOFF: A premium lifestyle apparel brand that uses graphics to inspire self-expression and individuality. Play Catch With A Dad: A group of dads who come together to uplift members of the LGBTQ+ community by playing catch and offering hugs to show support. The fun extends inside the ballpark as well, with the Windy City Gay Chorus and Treble Quire from the Windy City Performing Arts singing the national anthem. Babett Peter and Ella Masar from Chicago Stars FC will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. To attend the Pride Celebration at Wrigley Field, fans are encouraged to purchase a ticket to the June 12 game through the Pride Celebration Special Ticket Offer which includes a limited-edition Cubs Pride jersey, made customizable with special Pride heat press patches available at Gallagher Way pregame.
