Craig Counsell reacts to Ryne Sandberg's health battle |
Chicago Cubs all-time great Ryne Sandberg recently finished up another round of chemotherapy as he battles metastic prostate cancer.
Despite his illness, 'Ryno' was able to attend the Cubs home opener at Wrigley Field and throw out the first pitch. After the win, Cubs manager Craig Counsell understood what an important person that Sandberg is in the city of Chicago and for Cubs fans in general. “I know he’s going through some health battles," Counsell told the media. "When he was walking out there, you could just tell that he was a great player. There’s a presence to the man. “He’s a quiet, soft-spoken man, but there’s a presence to the man. From a health perspective, that he was able to get out there and throw the first pitch was something good.” "There's a presence to the man."
