Theo Epstein wants more time to check out candidates for the Cubs managerial job.

According to multiple reports on Sunday, Astros bench coach Joe Espada is on his way for a second interview with the Cubs. Reportedly, he was very impressive in his first interview, so the Cubs are doing their due diligence to get more time with him.

Espada is also a candidate for the Giants and Pirates' managerial vacancies.

The Cubs have reportedly interviewed six candidates in total with Will Venable, Mark Loretta, David Ross, Joe Girardi, Joe Espada, and Gabe Kapler.

Special assistant to the Cubs front office David Ross and Espada are the front-runners for the Cubs job according to most media reports.
