Cubs sign Klay Thompson's brother

The Chicago Cubs have signed former New York Mets outfielder Trayce Thompson to a minor league deal.

He will join the Triple-A Iowa Cubs (I-Cubs) following his recent release from the Mets.

In 2024, Thompson has demonstrated his power at the Triple-A level, posting a .230 batting average with 16 home runs and 44 RBIs.

Throughout his 369-game major league career, he has a batting average of .212, with 45 home runs and 126 RBIs.

This signing adds valuable depth to the Cubs' roster and provides insurance against potential injuries. This is especially relevant given Cody Bellinger's recent hand injury from a hit-by-pitch on Wednesday night.

Interestingly, Thompson is one of two brothers of NBA star Klay Thompson, who plays for the Dallas Mavericks.
