Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant injured his oblique on a swing in the second inning of Monday night's 4-0 win against the Pirates.

This tricky injury continues a frustrating season for Bryant as he has had multiple injuries in 2020.

Cubs manager David Ross spoke to the media Tuesday and thinks the injury won't require an injured list stint as of now.

“I’m still optimistic it’s not an IL thing right now," Ross said. "That means there’s still hope. The trainers are optimistic. He seems optimistic. The oblique area is a real unique injury, having had it. You’re only going to feel it under real strenuous activity. You have to be cautious with this thing."

Bryant will not be available for Tuesday's game and will be day-to-day as they continue to do treatment on him.

He is batting .195 with two homers and five RBIs.

Ross said that Bryant felt better today than Tuesday so that is good news for all Cubs fans that hope he bounces back and finishes strong this season.
