Kyle Hendricks, Yan Gomes will have their team options picked up in 2024

The Chicago Cubs are reportedly bringing back two key veterans on their team.

ESPN's Jesse Rogers reports that the Professor is back for another session in Chicago.

"The team is exercising its 2024 option on starter Kyle Hendricks, sources tell ESPN," he posted on X. "He’ll make $16.5 million next year. The move was expected, especially so after Marcus Stroman opted out of his deal yesterday. The longest-tenured Cub is back for his 11th season."

Hendricks had a 6-8 record with a 3.74 ERA and 93 strikeouts last season.

He is the only remaining player left on the team from the 2016 World Series championship team.

Rogers is also reporting that the Cubs will be picking up the option on catcher Yan Gomes.

Gomes hit .267 with ten homers and 63 RBIs in 2023.

He will make $6 million next season.

This is great news for Cubs fans, as both are solid players and great teammates in the clubhouse.
