Not good news for the Cubs.

The Cubs top catcher prospect Miguel Amaya will have Tommy John Sugery according to a report by Cubs beat writer Jordan Bastian.

"Cubs believe that Tommy John surgery is imminent for catching prospect Miguel Amaya, per multiple sources," he tweeted. "Timetable TBD. Tough blow for Chicago's No. 4-ranked @MLBPipeline prospect. Missed last few months of '21 season with what was initially described as a right forearm strain."

Amaya has already missed the 2021 season with his forearm injury and didn't get to play baseball in 2020 with the pandemic ending the minor league season.
