Roster Moves: Cubs recall Jordan Wicks, place Cade Horton in IL |
CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today recalled left-handed pitcher Jordan Wicks from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Cade Horton has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a right rib fracture (retroactive to Sept. 25).
Wicks, 26, went 3-4 with two saves and a 3.55 ERA (28 ER/71.0 IP) in 20 games with the I-Cubs in 2025, all but four of which were starts. In seven appearances with the Cubs this season, Wicks has suffered one loss with a 7.94 ERA (10 ER/11.1 IP) and nine strikeouts. He was last recalled on Sept. 23 and made one appearance before being optioned the next day. Horton, 24, was removed after the third inning from his outing on Sept. 23 with back tightness. The rookie pitcher has pitched to a 2.67 ERA (35 ER/118.0 IP) this season, including a league-leading 1.03 ERA (7 ER/61.1IP) since the All-Star break. The Cubs play the St. Louis Cardinals at 1:20 p.m. CT at Wrigley Field in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score and, in Spanish, on WRTO 1200 AM.REGISTER HERE
