
Roster Moves: Cubs recall lefty pitcher, lefty reliever placed on paternity list |
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Chicago Cubs today recalled left-handed pitcher Tom Cosgrove from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding move, left-handed pitcher Caleb Thielbar has been placed on the paternity list.
Cosgrove, 28, has thrown in one game with the Cubs this season on April 29 at Pittsburgh (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 SO), after being recalled on April 27. He is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA (2 ER/5.2 IP) and 11 strikeouts, compared to two walks, contributing to a 1.24 WHIP in five games with the I-Cubs since being acquired April 10. Thielbar, 38, is 1-1 with one save and a 3.29 ERA (5 ER/13.2 IP) in 16 appearances with the Cubs this season. He has allowed just one earned run in his last nine games dating to April 15. The Cubs play the New York Mets tonight at 6:10 p.m. CT at Citi Field in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score and, in Spanish, on WRTO 1200 AM.
