CHICAGO — Trailing 6-1 midway through Thursday's game, the Chicago Cubs (60-42) did not let up against the Arizona Diamondbacks (56-48), as they scored six runs in the final five innings to win 7-6 and earn a series split. Winning in thrilling fashion, the Cubs hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the ninth to tally a walk-off win.

Playing in the 1,000th game of his MLB career, Cubs slugger Anthony Rizzo picked up his 601st career RBI by jacking a walk-off bomb. In the previous at-bat, David Bote, who started at second base, hit a two-run dinger to knot the game up at 6-6. Following Rizzo's walk-off shot, the leadoff-hitting first baseman was given a celebratory Gatorade shower by his teammates.
