Cubs Media Relations  ·

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding move, left-handed pitcher Génesis Cabrera has been designated for assignment.

Pearson, 28, has gone 3-1 with a 2.22 ERA (6 ER/24.1 IP), 29 strikeouts and just one home run allowed in 19 appearances (one start) since he was optioned to Iowa on April 15. He ranks fourth in both ERA and opponent OPS (.616) among Iowa pitchers with at least 10 appearances. In eight games during his first stint with the Cubs to open the season, he went 0-1 with a 10.38 ERA (10 ER/8.2 IP).

Cabrera, 28, pitched to an 8.68 ERA (9 ER/9.1 IP) in nine games with the Cubs. He signed with Chicago on May 29 after being designated for assignment by the Mets.

The Cubs play the Seattle Mariners today at 1:20 p.m. CT at Wrigley Field in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score and, in Spanish, on WRTO 1200 AM.
