
Roster Moves: Cubs add righty, option Jordan Wicks |
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Chicago Cubs today selected right-handed pitcher Brooks Kriske from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding move, the Cubs optioned left-handed pitcher Jordan Wicks. Kriske will wear uniform #57.
Kriske, 31, joins the Cubs for his second stint of the season. He previously had his contract selected on May 24 and made his only appearance this season with the Cubs that same day, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings at Cincinnati. He has pitched to a 3-0 record with a 3.13 ERA (11 ER/31.2 IP), 52 strikeouts, compared to 10 walks, a 1.07 WHIP and a .200 opponent batting average in 23 games with the I-Cubs this season. His 52 strikeouts are the second most among Iowa pitchers in relief outings. Kriske has not allowed an earned run since June 18 spanning his last six outings and 7.2 innings pitched. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native was signed by the Cubs to a minor league contract on November 22, 2024. He is 2-1 with a 10.27 ERA (27 ER/23.2 IP) in 21 career major league games between Kansas City, Baltimore and the New York Yankees. Kriske was selected by the Yankees in the sixth round of the 2016 draft and made his major league debut on July 29, 2020. Wicks, 25, is 0-1 with a 9.72 ERA (9 ER/8.1 IP) in four games in relief this season.
