Bears cut two players including Velus Jones Jr.

The Chicago Bears announced on Friday that they have released fullback Khari Blasingame and waived receiver Velus Jones Jr.

The moves will become official on Saturday.

Jones was a former third-round pick in 2022 by the Bears.

He has been a healthy scratch since Week 2. During his time with the Bears, he has caught 12 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown. He also had 1,042 return yards on 39 kick returns.

Veteran special-teamer DeAndre Carter has played well this season and has minimized the need for Jones.

Blasingame was likely cut because there wasn't a huge role for a fullback in Shane Waldron's Bears offense.
