Report: Bears make several moves including adding former Pro-Bowl long snapper

by - Senior Editor -

According to multiple reports, the Chicago Bears signed veteran Jake McQuaide to their practice squad on Tuesday.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune first reported it.

McQuaide made the Pro Bowl in 2016 and 2017 with the Los Angeles Rams.

Most of his 190 games played have been with the Rams over 13 seasons, but he has also had stints with the Cowboys and Lions.

This was an important and necessary signing after the knee injury to long snapper Scott Daly.

Starting tight end Cole Kmet filled in nicely in Sunday's win against the Jaguars with four successful snaps on extra points, but it's good to have more depth at the position.

Veteran long snapper Patrick Scales is still on the injured reserve, and there is no word yet when he might be healthy.

According to Biggs, the Bears have also re-signed defensive lineman Jamree Kroman to the practice squad and released defensive tackle Travis Bell.
