Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Matthew Boyd was named to the 2025 All-Star team on Sunday night.

Boyd signed a two-year, $29 million deal with the Cubs and certainly has outplayed his contract so far in 2025. He has an 8-3 record with a 2.65 ERA with 12 quality starts.

“Matt’s put together a wonderful first half,” manager Craig Counsell told reporters Sunday. “He’s very deserving, and to make the staff as one of the starters in this league — that’s not an easy thing to do.”

Boyd joins PCA and Kyle Tucker on the National League roster.

The All-Star game will be played on Tuesday, July 15.
