MLB insider predicts Cubs will trade for standout pitcher Tyler Glasnow

by - Senior Editor -

The Winter Meetings are underway, and plenty of rumors about possible free agents linked with the Cubs are floating around.

However, there are also trades that the Northsiders could get involved with their loaded farm system.

Bruce Levine, a contributor on Marquee Sports Network, has voiced the belief that the Cubs are poised to make a significant move by acquiring Tyler Glasnow from the Rays in a blockbuster trade.

"Let's start with a trade," he says on Marquee. "That's going to be Glasnow, and it's the pitcher that the Cubs need for this year. They have the farm system to get him. I think that's something that's going to happen."

He had a 3.20 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 34.1% strikeout rate and held batters to a .196 average during roughly six seasons with the Rays.

If the speculated trade comes to fruition, it could represent a huge move by the Cubs to address their starting pitching needs and enhance their competitiveness for several seasons.

As the Winter Meetings unfold, stays tuned to CubsHQ for all the latest news and rumors.
