On Thursday afternoon, the Cardinals in the Vatican announced the election of a new pope named Pope Leo XIV.

In a historic moment, Robert Prevost—an American from Chicago—was chosen, making him the first-ever Pope from the United States.

"We have to be a church that works together to build bridges and to keep our arms open, like this very piazza, welcoming," Leo told the crowd welcoming him outside the Vatican.

According to ABC News, the 69-year-old is a devoted Chicago Cubs fan.

"He's tough, because it is not easy to be a Cubs fan on the South Side of Chicago," reporter Terry Moran said on television.

Here’s hoping Pope Prevost brings a little divine luck to the Cubs in 2025 and beyond.
