Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell met with the media ahead of Game 2 of the series in Miami about relief pitcher Porter Hodge's timeline to return from his oblique injury and what the designated hitter spot will look like since Ian Happ has returned to the roster.

Check out the pregame video:

Video summary/cliff notes:

(00:00–00:29): Porter Hodge's injury isn't a major concern. Craig Counsell compares it to Ian Happ's previous situation, which resolved in about 4–5 days. The team is hopeful for a similar recovery timeline.

(00:29–01:05): Cubs bullpen is dealing with fatigue. Availability may dictate unusual bullpen usage in the coming games.

(01:05–02:04): Bullpen adaptability praised. Counsell highlights contributions from Drew Pomeranz, Ryan (despite one bad outing), Daniel, and Brad Keller—whose emergence has been especially important.

(02:04–02:40): Designated Hitter (DH) role to be rotated. With Ian Happ back, the Cubs will likely give Kyle Schwarber DH duties for a few days to rest his legs.

(03:03): Schwarber’s rest is precautionary, not injury-related. He’s played a lot and needs a short physical break.

(03:26–03:47): Justin (likely Steele or a player named Justin) is a "baseball rat." Counsell appreciates his love of the game and strong engagement in team discussions during games.

(04:03–04:41): Alcántara's (Alisteros) MLB stint seen as an intro. Counsell says the biggest difference at this level is pitchers being slightly better, but Alcántara wasn’t overwhelmed.

(04:41–05:32): Daniel’s development highlighted. Counsell praises Daniel’s maturity from last year, noting growth in handling in-game situations and competition.
