It's official: Cubs sign standout outfielder from 2020 MLB Draft |
CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today announced they have signed outfielder Jordan Nwogu (pronounced Wo-Goo), the club’s third round pick in the 2020 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. The Cubs have signed all five members of their 2020 Draft class.
Nwogu, 21, batted .334 (147-for-440) with 23 doubles, five triples, 20 homers, 79 RBI and 30 stolen bases in three seasons at the University of Michigan. He posted a .430 on-base percentage and .545 slugging mark, good for a career .975 OPS. In a shortened 15-game campaign this season, his junior year, he hit .353 (24-for-68) with one double and two homers. In 2019, Nwogu was selected as an All-Big Ten First Team selection after batting .321 and establishing team-best marks with 58 runs scored, a .557 slugging mark and a .435 on-base percentage. Nwogu was named a Collegiate Baseball News Freshman All-America in 2018. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Nwogu graduated from Pioneer High School where he was a Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American in 2017. Now officially signed with the Chicago Cubs ???
