Brandon Morrow sidelined with new injury

Veteran Cubs reliever Brandon Morrow is trying to make one of the final roster spots for 2020.

Unfortunately, he can't get 100 percent healthy as the guy just can't catch a break with his body.

Morrow had an MRI on Friday and has a mild tear in his calf (grade 1) and will be out roughly 10-14 days according to The Athletic's Sahadev Sharma.

Earlier in spring training, he had a 'mild right upper chest strain' that sidelined him for a few days. Hopefully, he can rest up, probably go down the minors and eventually help out the big league club at some point this season.

His contract will pay him $1 million if he makes it on the major league roster with a modest $1.25 million in potential incentives if he pitches in 65 games.

Morrow hasn't pitched in a major league game since July 2018 when he had 22 saves and a sparkling 1.47 ERA that season.
