Cubs join other sports teams to tell residents to stay home |
The Chicago Cubs along with other Chicago sports teams have joined forces in a new campaign "We Are Not Playing" to tell residents to stay home during this COVID-19 pandemic.
As of Monday afternoon, there were 4,680 cases of coronavirus in Chicago and 11,256 in the state of Illinois. Cubs owner Tom Ricketts had the following to say about the new campaign trying to help Chicago. "Sports has always served as a great example of achieving a common goal and overcoming the odds," he said on Monday. "As we battle the biggest public health crisis facing our generation, the Chicago Cubs are happy to join the Chicago sports community in encouraging Chicago residents to work together as a team to fight this pandemic. If we can all do our part to follow public health guidelines to stay at home we can slow or stop the spread of this disease." “I am grateful to each of our hometown teams for stepping up and doing their part by joining in this call for every neighborhood and community,” Mayor Lori Lightfoot said in a release. “They’re not playing, and neither are we.
