Cubs reportedly signing former Braves reliever

The Chicago Cubs need more help for their bullpen depth in 2020.

The team is currently addressing those needs by reportedly signing free-agent reliever Daniel Winkler to a one-year deal. He is another low cost, high reward guy with some upside considering he is controllable through the 2021 season via arbitration.

Winkler had a 3-1 record with a 4.98 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 27 appearances (21 2/3 innings) with the Atlanta Braves last season. In Triple-A, he had a 2.93 ERA, 29 strikeouts and 23 walks in 30 2/3 innings.

In 2018, the 29-year old had an impressive 3.43 ERA with 69 strikeouts and 1.19 WHIP in 60 innings.

He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 20th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 43rd round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Parkland College but didn't sign as he chose to attend Central Florida.
