MLB Spring training expected to be suspended

The global pandemic of the Coronavirus is certainly changing things very fluidly including the sports world.

Major League Baseball is expected to be suspended as soon as today according to multiple reports including ESPN's Jeff Passan.

"After a conference call among owners this afternoon, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend spring training," Passan posted on social media. "The league likely will delay the beginning of the regular season as well. At this point, it's a formality that ownership-level sources expect to happen."

David Ross was asked about the situation on Thursday as he met with reporters.

"It's all a little alarming when you are talking about the mass scale," he said. "As far as we go, we will follow instructions from MLB and pay attention to what is going on. We have to do business as usual until we hear something from Major League Baseball."

The Cubs have reportedly already taken scouts off the road as they prepare for more cases of coronavirus.
