REPORT: Cubs interested in trading for veteran Tigers outfielder |
CHICAGO — Fresh off a series in which Detroit Tigers outfielder Cameron Maybin did some damage at the plate against the Chicago Cubs, the North Siders are
reportedly interested in acquiring the well-rounded veteran. Maybin, 33, is in his 14th major league season and could provide some outfield depth for the Cubs.
Maybin's current slash line is .256/.310/.436 through 13 appearances and 39 at-bats. He went 4-for-7 against the Cubs in a series this week that saw the Tigers win two of three at Comerica Park. The trade deadline is Monday, Aug. 31, so the Cubs' front office will have to work fast if they are to acquire Maybin, who has experience playing at all three outfield spots and has proven to be a reliable hitter.
