CHICAGO — Giving it his all on an inning-ending defensive play, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo dove toward the bag and swiped it with his mitt on Monday night. Rizzo fielded a grounder hit by the St. Louis Cardinals' Tommy Edman and went to the ground in order to beat the speedy Edman to first base.

Rizzo helped pitcher Tyson Miller escape the bottom of the second at Wrigley Field without giving up any more runs after he was taken for a two-run homer earlier in the frame. Rizzo's high-effort play took place with two outs and a man on second. "Big Rizz" outed Edman just in time and proudly dirtied his uniform in the process.
