CINCINNATI — A tale of two games, the nail biter between the Chicago Cubs (3-1) and the Cincinnati Reds (1-3) on Monday night, which was delayed over an hour and a half due to rain, featured a near-collapse by the Chicago bullpen at Great American Ball Park. Cubs ace Jon Lester worked a no-hitter until, with the Cubs leading 6-0, he was pulled after five innings pitched.

The Cubs eventually led 8-1 at the seventh-inning stretch, but the Reds scored six runs the rest of the way and came within one hit of winning in walkoff fashion. After entering in relief of a struggling Craig Kimbrel, reliever Jeremy Jeffress finished off the game for the Cubs by recording two clutch outs with the bases loaded.
