CHICAGO — Overcoming a steady wind blowing in at Wrigley Field, Chicago Cubs slugger Kris Bryant went yard for the first time on the season on Monday. The solo dinger put the Cubs up 2-0 over the Kansas City Royals.

Bryant got underneath a pitch thrown by Royals reliever Ian Kennedy and lifted it just over the center field wall. The 385-foot blast came with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, with Bryant swinging at a first-pitch cutter and going yard.
