White Sox announce four roster moves |
CHICAGO -- Prior to today’s doubleheader vs. St. Louis, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:
- Placed right-handed pitcher Ian Hamilton on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to August 12) with right shoulder soreness; - Transferred infielder/outfielder Leury García (sprained left thumb) to the 45-day injured list; - Purchased the contract of infielder Cheslor Cuthbert from the Schaumburg training facility; - Recalled left-handed pitcher Bernardo Flores from Schaumburg to serve as the 29th man for today’s doubleheader. Flores, 24, is 27-26 with a 3.18 ERA (153 ER/432.2 IP) and 342 strikeouts in 82 games (79 starts) over four seasons in the White Sox minor-league system. He was selected by the Sox in the seventh round of the 2016 draft out of USC. Flores, who has no major-league experience, will wear uniform No. 67. Cuthbert, 27, has played in one game with the Sox in 2020, going 0-1. García, 29, was placed on the 10-day injured list on August 11. He is hitting .271 (16-59) with three home runs and eight RBI over 16 games this season. Hamilton, 25, owns a 4.50 ERA (2 ER/4.0 IP) with four strikeouts over four appearances with the Sox this season. Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
