White Sox announce two roster moves

CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago White Sox reinstated right-handed pitcher Evan Marshall from the 10-day injured list and optioned right-hander José Ruiz to the Schaumburg training facility.

Marshall, 30, has been on the 10-day injured list since September 18 (retroactive to September 15) with right shoulder inflammation. He is 2-1 with a 2.49 ERA (6 ER/21.2 IP), eight holds, 29 strikeouts and a .205 (17-80) opponents average over 22 relief appearances this season. Eight of his last nine appearances since August 28 have been scoreless.

Ruiz, 25, is 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA (1 ER/4.0 IP) and five strikeouts in five relief appearances over two stints with the White Sox in 2020.
