The Chicago Cubs are making their final moves before the regular season.
Cubs manager David Ross announced that Alec Mills will be a starter this season.
"Alec will be our fifth starter," Ross said to the media Wednesday. "He's done everything he's needed to do. He was in the competition for that in the first spring that Chatty won. Alec has done a great job."
The Cubs rotation will start out with Kyle Hendricks, followed by Yu Darvish, then Jon Lester, Tyler Chatwood, and finally Mills.
In 2019, Mills was impressive in long relief and as a spot starter posting a 2.75 ERA in 36 innings.
Jose Quintana's injury while washing dishes opened up a spot for Mills and it will be interesting to see if he takes advantage of it.
