The Chicago Cubs are expected to name David Ross as their new manager.
NBC Sports Chicago's David Kaplan posted the following on social media on Wednesday morning:
Highly placed source has confirmed to me David Ross is expected to be named Cubs manager this week. His agent has been discussing contractual terms with Theo Epstein. Deal is almost done.
Kaplan added that the Cubs made the decision on Tuesday afternoon and the other candidates have already been informed of their decision.
This is in addition to ESPN's Jesse Rogers announcement tidbit on the radio Tuesday.
“Do not be surprised if David Ross is announced as early as Thursday," he said.
The finalists for the position were David Ross and Astros bench coach Joe Espada. Both candidates received a second interview and it appears that 'Grandpa Rossy' came out on top in the end.
We will let you know when the David Ross news becomes official.

Per source - one of the things that put Ross over the top for the job with the Cubs, was his strong delivery of a mock 2020 Spring Training team speech. The club asked Ross and Joe Espada to compose and deliver mock speeches for the staff during their second interviews.
