Report: Cubs will non-tender Albert Almora Jr.

The Chicago Cubs won't be tendering out a contract to Albert Almora Jr. for the 2021 season according to multiple reports.

Almora was a former No. 1 draft pick that showed flashes of greatness defensively but could never get his bat going enough.

In 2020, he hit .167 (5-for-30) with a .465 OPS in a limited action before being sent down to South Bend. He made around $1.6 million this past season.

This is a disappointing end for Almora for the Cubs but he will get a fresh start elsewhere in the bigs because teams are always looking for someone to play great defense.
