The Chicago Cubs have placed righty reliever Anthony Bass on the 10-day disabled list with an undisclosed illness retroactive to July 5 and have recalled righty pitcher James Norwood from Triple-A Iowa.

Bass has been impressive this season with a 0.63 ERA (1 earned run), 1.12 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 14 appearances.

24-year old Norwood has a 1-2 record with a 2.13 ERA, only 12 walks, and 44 strikeouts in 38 innings at Iowa this season. Norwood has held opponents to a .158 batting average this season.

He will wear No. 57 for the Cubs as he will be available for today's game and will be added to the 40-man roster. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the seventh round of the 2014 Draft out of St. Louis University.

For his minor league career, he is 11-14 with 17 saves and a 3.84 ERA.

In other injury news, Kris Bryant and Brian Duensing will head to Double-A Tennessee for their rehab stints.
