Cubs re-sign two players

Baseball America updated their minor league transaction page and the Chicago Cubs have re-signed OF Todd Glaesmann and RHP Frank Batista to minor league deals.

Glaesmann, 26, has mostly played in Double-A and Triple-A in his pro career with a career stat line of .260 with 149 doubles, 75 homers, and 300 RBI in 705 minor league games. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the third round of the 2009 MLB Draft.

Batista, 27, AKA "The Shark" has been a closer and starter while in the minor leagues with the Cubs. In seven seasons, he has 28-22 record with a 2.99 ERA, 379 strikeouts, and 1.25 WHIP.

He was signed by the Cubs in 2008 as an international free agent.
