Bears DE Trevis Gipson has asked the team to trade him |
This is certainly a distraction right before the regular season.
Chicago Bears defensive end Trevis Gipson has requested to be traded according to multiple reports including ESPN. "Gipson has received permission from the #Bears to seek a trade, per sources," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler tweeted. "Gipson had seven sacks in 2021 and could be looking to get back to a 3-4 scheme." In two seasons, he has been productive on his pass rush with 10 sacks. “I’m not going to really comment on that because I don’t know much about that,” Eberflus said when asked about Gipson's trade demands. “I know that just came out. But I can just say this: Trevis is an outstanding young man, and he works his tail off, and he’s been great since he’s been there. He had some good plays out there today too.” Gipson was drafted by the Bears in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL draft and in the last year of his current rookie deal. Bears teammate Terrell Lewis has been seeing more second-team snaps than Trevis Gipson of late. Lewis had three sacks, a tackle-for-loss, and a quarterback hit in his first two preseason games. More to come on this breaking news story. Trevis Gipson is on the #Bears' sideline. Defensive end Trevis Gipson has received permission from the #Bears to seek a trade, per sources.
