Bears v. 49ers Betting Preview: Best Bets, Player Props and Parlays

CHICAGO - Chicago’s game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sun. Dec. 28 (7:20 p.m. / NBC) is one of the most important games of the season to shape the playoff picture. With a win, the Bears could realistically clinch the NFC North and the No. 1 overall seed. With a loss, Green Bay still has a chance at the division title.

Despite coming off a thrilling win against the Packers last week, the Bears are three-point underdogs according to DraftKings, with the over / under at 52.5. Injuries will play a factor for both teams as Chicago will be without wide receiver Rome Odunze (heel) once again, and San Francisco’s tight end, George Kittle, is questionable with an ankle injury.

Whatever injuries have come Chicago’s way, they have always stayed competitive and come into this game with a chance to win the division. They know the stakes, and head coach Ben Johnson always ensures they are ready, no matter who is on the roster. Therefore, the Bears will cover the spread. A $5 bet for Chicago to cover the spread (-108) would have a payout of $9.62.

Both of these teams are top-10 in scoring, which is reflected in the over / under. However, Chicago’s defense also tends to allow a decent number of points. This game has all the makings of a shootout, especially with the Bears getting one of their top playmakers in wide receiver Luther Burden III back this week. Thus, the over will hit in this game. A $5 bet on the over to hit (-110) would have a payout of $9.54.

Player Props

Quarterback Caleb Williams is not one of those quarterbacks who are putting up 300-plus passing yards a game. However, he has put up at least 240 yards in each of the past two games and San Francisco has a tendency to give up passing yards. Especially with the amount of points both teams will probably score, Williams is going to be throwing the ball, potentially more than he has in any other game this season. Therefore, he will have at least 240 passing yards. A $5 bet for Williams to have at least 240 passing yards (+135) would have a payout of $11.75.

Chicago generally spreads the ball around a bit to their top players, including Burden III who has stepped up in the latter part of the season. Burden III has yet to have at least five receptions. However, this will be the game he does it. Good players step up when everything is on the line and that is precisely what Burden III will do against the 49ers. A $5 bet for Burden III to have at least five receptions (+136) would have a payout of $11.80.

So far this season, San Francisco has given up nine touchdowns to tight ends this season, the fifth-most of any team in the NFL. Rookie tight end Colston Loveland has exploited defenses that have struggled against tight ends this season - the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers - by finding the end zone. Especially with the Bears still down wide receiver Rome Odunze, Williams will be looking to get Loveland the ball. Therefore, Loveland will score a touchdown in this game. A $5 bet for Loveland to be an anytime scorer (+136) would also have a payout of $11.80.

Same-Game Parlay

In a same-game parlay with Chicago covering the spread, the over hitting, Williams throwing for at least 240 yards, Burden III having at least five receptions and Loveland scoring a touchdown (+2300), a $5 bet would have a payout of $120.

DraftKings Featured Parlay - “Road Warriors”

This four-legged parlay featured Chicago, the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams covering the spread in their respective games. The Giants are facing the Las Vegas Raiders, who struggle on defense which gives the Giants a great opportunity to win. The Eagles are in a matchup with the Buffalo Bills and although their quarterback, Josh Allen, is back, he is not completely healthy and the Eagles are still playing for the No. 2 seed. Therefore, they should also keep this game close; they can also cover the spread without winning. Finally, the Rams are playing the Atlanta Falcons. This should be a two-score, meaning the Rams will cover the spread here as well. A $5 bet on this parlay (+1174) would have a payout of $63.71.
