Ian Happ on latest with contract talks

by - Senior Editor -

As the baseball season begins, one player whose future is uncertain is Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ. With no extension in place, Happ is headed for free agency after this season.

Despite the uncertainty, Happ is focused on his job as a Cub and excited to play with his teammates.

“It’s not something I want to get into," Happ said recently to reporters. Went through the process and that’s about it. There’s nothing to report, no real comment on it. I’m excited to play baseball with this group of guys."

Happ was a first-time All-Star and gold glover last season, hitting .271 with 17 homers and 72 RBIs.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Happ's future, his focus on the present is admirable. He knows that his performance on the field will be what matters most, both for himself and for any potential suitors in free agency.

Whether Happ remains a Cub beyond this season or not, he's committed to giving his all for the team while he's still in Chicago.
