Javy Baez explains how he makes those magical no-look tags

El Mago knows magical defense.

Cubs shortstop Javier Baez produces some of the most jaw-dropping defensive plays with his cannon of an arm and his no-look tags that mystify baserunners.

His no-look tags aren't magic but something that he actually works hard at.

"Believe it or not," Báez said via Cubs insider Jordan Bastian, "I practice this."

"You've got to have a plan," he said. "I know my angles. I know where the runner's coming from. And, you know, it depends on the throw. I let the ball get really deep to the bag, pretty close to the bag."

Baez caught a throw made by catcher Willson Contreras and swiped a baserunner without even looking at him to the awe of Cubs fans everywhere in the win on Monday night.
