Seiya Suzuki injury update |
Not a great start for Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki.
The starting right fielder was held out of Saturday's Cactus League opener because of tightness in his oblique. Since then, he has not played in any games, and they are waiting on test results of imaging on his back. "It's a 'wait and see,'" Ross told reporters recently. "I don't want to make any comments on WBC or anything like that. We'll see what happens and what information we get back, talk to the doctor, talk to trainers, and kind of make some decisions as soon as possible." Suzuki will likely have to sit out the WBC because he has a long season ahead, and back issues can be tricky. The Cubs will probably err on the side of caution as they have a lot of money and resources invested in the talented outfielder. Update: The Cubs announced on Tuesday that he has a moderate left oblique strain and there is no timetable for his return. Sometimes these back issues take around 6-8 weeks to heal, FYI.
